2020 devastated choral singers everywhere. Covid was bleak. We couldn’t meet together; we couldn’t sing together.
So we did the next best thing. Singing teacher and soprano Lynne Rogers started ‘Don’t come and sing’ sessions via the internet. Singers from all over the UK met online and did what they do best.
When we could sing together in person, we gathered in outside spaces and sang, suitably distanced. For 30 of us, from the Merseyside area, our chosen spot was Level 10 of a multi-story car park in Liverpool. Shoppers and security staff enjoyed the return of live music in their lives! We were all inspired by the experience.

Most of the group of singers is still meeting five years later, and still performing beautiful, uplifting music. Our choir has expanded and developed. We’re now River Voices, but we’re still led by Lynne.
Though we do perform ‘traditional’ choral concerts, our focus is on contemporary repertoire, and we are pioneers in the staging of immersive soundbaths….
